The Hicks building

Hicks is home to both the Physics department (the lower floors) and the Maths department (the upper floors). The building is named after Prof Hicks who was one of the founders of Sheffield university and was its first Vice-Chancellor. He was a Professor in both Physics and Maths, explaining how these departments became close neighbours.

The student union

Just behind Hicks is a shiny new student union building built in 2010. We eat lunch there most days. On a sunny day, the beer garden is worth a visit too.
